Will you make a cake to my design or do you
only make your own designs? |
We can work together to create a design that
includes your ideas/personal touches and new trends. Alternatively
you may select from the many options on my web site, in display
cakes, photo/book library, or bring a design sketch of your ideas.
|
|
Can I taste your cakes?
|
Yes. I hold free-of-charge cake tasting
sessions (see flyers) plus I meet with clients by appointment.
Reservations are essential for catering purposes. |
|
How many tiers will I need?
|
The Portion Guide will assist in determining
the correct size cake needed. However, the cake size will depend on:
(1) if the cake will be served as treat or dessert; (2) if the top
tier is to be kept; (3) if a ‘morning-after’ cake is required, (4)
the number of guests. |
|
What are the normal sizes for a two tier and
three tier cake? |
Generally the two tier cake is 6 & 10” (est.
70 dessert/140 treat portions); the three tier cake is 6, 8 & 10”
(est. 100 dessert/200 treat portions). |
|
How much will my cake cost?
|
My cakes are priced in two categories:
standard and elaborate. The price difference is based on the amount
of decorating required:
The standard two/ three tier designs start at
$460-$560;
the elaborate two/three tier designs start at
$560-$660. |
|
How much deposit is required? |
No deposit is required. Once your invoice is
confirmed in writing, payment in full is required one week prior to
the wedding by direct deposit. |
|
How much lead time do you need?
|
An ideal lead time is 9-12 months.
Lead times shorter than 6 months will depend
on availability. |
|
Do you deliver?
|
We deliver all around SE Qld and regularly
pack and transport cakes interstate.
The delivery fee varies on the distance to
the venue location.
We offer delivery and setup service.
Examples of delivery prices include: $45
Toowoomba CBD, $75 surrounds (Dalby, Oakey), $125 Brisbane, $145
South and North Coast.
Should you wish to collect the cake and
deliver privately, the bride and groom then become responsible for
packaging, transportation and setup. |
|
How many flavours do you have? |
I have a dozen varieties of cake flavours to
meet all tastes.
These include: two rich fruit cake varieties;
six chocolate mud varieties; carrot and hummingbird; chocolate and
vanilla Victorian Sponge cakes. |
|
Can I have a different flavour on each tier?
|
Yes. There is no extra charge for different
flavours on each tier. Couples who want their cake served as
dessert often choose different flavours to provide for alternate
drop desserts. |
|
Can I have fresh flowers on my cake? |
Queensland safe food handling practices
recommend that fresh flowers are not placed directly on to or in to
the cake. Fresh flowers are at an extra cost and become the
responsibility of the bride and groom to place on a sheet of over
head transparency to protect the cake surface. |
|
Do you make gluten free? |
Yes. I recommend that the wedding cake is
made in the standard recipe and that the gluten free cake is made in
a smaller size and decorated as a mini wedding cake. |
|
How long will the fruit and mud cakes keep?
|
Fruit cake will keep for years when wrapped
in glad wrap and then alfoil and kept in an air tight container. It
does not require storing in the freezer.
Chocolate mud cakes will keep for up to 14-16
months if wrapped in glad wrap, sealed in a container and frozen.
Thaw for 6-8 hours when needed, and then zap
each piece for 4-6 seconds to bring the chocolate and moisture back
to the surface. |
